Timeline

• 2000 (Feb) Harbors met with users on Maui and were told their Pier 2C Plan was unacceptable


• 2000-2004 Not one word was heard from Harbors


• 2004 (Sep) Harbors gives one copy of the DEA to the Kahului Library and one copy to the Mayor's office.


• No notification is given to the canoe clubs that the DEA exists


• No copy of the DEA is given to our Maui Harbors office


• 2004 (Oct) With less than 2 weeks until the end of the comment period, Canoe Clubs discover the DEA


• Canoe clubs tell Harbors that DEA is incorrect in its statements about paddling


• 2004 (Oct 20) Harbors, Coast Guard and Ferry people hold informational meeting on Maui.


• 300 people show up without any notice being given - and they express their concerns and opposition.


• Maui lawmakers and Mayor vow to support paddlers
