Sample Hate Mail from Superferry SUPPORTERS

Dr. Michael Moore, DDS in Ka'anapali wrote:
Are you people NUTS!! You are acting like a bunch of spoiled brats-don't play with my toys!!, Don't look at my stuff!!-Maui does not belong to you, it belongs to all the citizens of Hawaii and the US-I support the superferry, and I laugh at your pitiful complaints-OOO too much fishing, as if the fishermen on Maui are so conservation minded-OOO the boats might bring Eucheuma, as if the boats that come to Maui everyday won't-You are pathetic, and you will loose [sic]in the long run-you loose [sic] because intellegent [sic] people can see through your arguments, and you loose respect of the people who look to you for good information-so sad, you should be ashamed!! Mike in Kanapali [sic]

Karen Chun replies:
I have to wonder why you are so wrought up that you wrote this email. We are simply trying to have the environmental law applied. My sense is that you have been motivated by the intense and expensive PR campaign that the Superferry folks have mounted rather than calm logical reasoning.

Emotion has no place in rational debate over what is legal and what is not. The State Supreme court ruled unanimously that we were legally right. You are advocating breaking the law? Why?

I am at a loss to understand why you are so emotional over this...Be aware that inappropriate reactions like this should serve as a wake up call that you are not thinking rationally but have, instead, been swayed by arguments which may not have much validity.

Those asking for an EIS are doing it to FIX THE PROBLEMS. That is what an EIS is for.

Sincerely,
Karen Chun

The Dentist goes ballistic
Gee, let me think, emotional, advocate breaking the law?? The Hawaii Supreme Court?? What a bunch of liberal, nanny state, cry baby, over- paid retired attorneys!! They could not have an original thought between them. They are supposed to interpret law, they obviously are intent on creating new law. I advocate breaking the law?? No, only their left-leaning communist inspired interpretation!! Emotional, OF COURSE!! You and your organization play on the emotions of people all of the time, in fact, people in Maui look to you for factual information, instead you give them garbage like "over fishing" and "invasive plants and animals". You should be ashamed, and I think, the court will be shown the light by the state legislature-will you be willing to abide by that same law at that time?? I doubt it, but we will see.!! Mike in Kaanapali

Karen Chun, webmaster, comments
The life of a webmaster is interesting!

Mr. Moore doesn't want to discuss the issues. I've had some very nice, rational people who disagree with this website's position email me and engage in productive dialog - so it isn't that all Superferry supporters are this ...ah...vitriolic.

He appears to just want to yell at someone. An unhappy, angry person.

And what's up with the lack of paragraphs? I can always tell whether I'm dealing with someone with a less than open mind by the length of the unbroken rant.

And I've found an inverse relationship between name-calling and rational support for the name-caller's position. The more name calling the more shaky ground for his position.
